January 2013~

What a sweet year its been. I had a spot in Comikaze and I was able to have my own booth at DesignerCon which were both huge successful events! I’ve also started printing large format canvas wraps which I know are going to be very popular this year. I was super lucky to be approached by Comizake while at designercon to be a featured artist! I will be making a Super Emo Stan Lee! My first “non-fictional” emo. So expect to see me there next year. I was also super lucky to be in a group show in TOKYO! Good stuff is happening. The SuperEmoFriends have become very aggressive this past year as November is their 3rd anniversary. They have opened many great opportunities and they are starting to look for even more! 2013 will be full of producing, traveling, conventions, and new friends. I hope we can meet! Ok i’m done here. <3

June 2012~

AGH! So much is happening right now! Everything has been heading in the right direction, as I feared it would!

Back when I first moved to LA, I jumped into every pot of soil I could find, well, metaphorically. One of these pots was the UGTL. I was asked to make flyers for a video game tournament, then I offered to do live art at these events. As you can see from the video art had a place in this community, so I quickly though up PixelDrip, how original…haha. Flashforward 3 years and who would have ever guessed it would become what it is today. All over Mtv, i09, slashfilm, and twitter! My fellow UCSB Alum Mark Batalla has pushed Pixeldrip into a whole new woooorld and we’re both very excited to see what happens after this Six Seasons and a Movie Show!

As far as my personal work, including the Super Emo Community cast I’m painting, I was given more space at JapanLA to hang my Super Emo Friends, and asked to make MORE emo friends, so I’ve decided to make sailor moon and papercraft street fighters. I’m excited to see how these ORIGINAL pieces do in the place of my previous employment!

Coming up soon I have a couple Gallery1988 shows coming up! Just finished an Arrested Development Tribute, then I have Crazy4Cult in New York.

I was also invited to be in A Judd Apatow tribute show in San Diego, and also expanded my art into Seattle! Then I have a show with the Hive Gallery in TOKYO!

Its been really crazy this month even though the past 6 months have been completely unproductive. Well, felt like it especially compared to this one.

Well thats the update for now, until next time!

February 2012~

Hey friends, 2012 so far is treating me well. I am trying to steer myself in the right direction in regards to my art and my career right now and it’s not easy.

I do not have a full time job, but I have a handful of freelance jobs. They have been so kind to work with me in a way that allows the freedom to focus on my artwork, but now it seems I have bit off more than I can chew.

Suddenly, I was accepted into the group show at La Luz de Jesus in Los Feliz, and I’ve also been invited to be in 4 shows at Gallery1988! This could mean new opportunities for me as an artist while compromising my opportunities as a freelance graphic designer. So things are a bit of a juggling act. Either way I am grateful to know that I am on the right path and see many great things on the horizon.

I don’t know if you noticed but JSalvadorDesign.com is missing. I’m having a hard time finding it actually haha. I wanted to link to a few things on there, but i hated the look so much i just wanted it to go away. so i started super emo friends.com because i think it has a better ring to it and i have pretty much started a brand/style.

if you want to send me an email it is jsalvador.ramos at gmail dot com. I’m afraid to make a link because of those damn spambots!

Heres some older stuff I’ve done in the past if anyone is interested.

Thanks for visiting! Now back to work!
